Engine noise feedback

Postby Wingover1 » Mon Sep 12, 2016 10:47 am

Hi eveyone. I have read the section on noise but my problem is my radio a VXA 300 Pilot 111 does not run of my ac battery but on it's own battery and still picks up the engine noise under a certain amount of revs it's fine but as soon as I give power the noise increases. I use the Air Magic chatterbox system, how can I solve this?

Hi Francois
This is a known problem with the VXA300 and the Air Magic. You will have to either change Radio or the Intercom. Got the T-shirt, done that.

It could also be spark plugs, if this problem came up recently after a service, then I would check your plugs...plugs without resistors can also cause engine noise in the radio ##

Spark plug to use is the NGK BR8ES. I know many shops do not stock these but have plenty of B8ES... ##

Hope this helps, good luck ##

Good Morning Raf. I run mine on the NGK R's. I have spoken to a clued up Autoelec that told me he will come and fit a surpressor, the same they use for the Lexus Motors. Apparantly they cause heavy interference on the two way radios the guys use in their bakkies. Hopefully It will be sort out my problem. I will reply with the results. thanx

I am also having this issue. Chatterbox with ICOM A23 and the Zulu powerbox.

Feedback is through the radio as unplugging the radio and everything quietens down. So the problem is on teh radio circuit. The power box is supposed to a regulated supply.

Funny enough the noise can in after an engine rebuild, so possibly different spark plugs is causing the problem.

Maybe the regulaor is not working... where can I get a regulator?

Mine gives of a whining noise that increases with rpm and only when I receive. and secondly I don't have a external power source but run of my radio's built in battery. Stay's the same even if I change to the Trikes aerial (**)
