Replacing 582 Ignition Coil rubber boots

Postby mulderpm » Sat Dec 06, 2014 5:18 pm

I have just replaced mine and it took about 20 minutes.

Replace the boots one at a time and start at the spark plug side. Role back the sparkplug cap boot and unscrew the high tension (HT) wire from the cap. Apply Q20 to the HT wire and to the grommet where it feeds through the aluminium coil bracket. Remove the sparkplug cap boot. With the help of a long nose plier feed the HT wire back through the holes until it is totally free and only connected to the ignition coil. Remove the old frot boot by feeding it off the end of the HT wire. Feed the new ignition coil boot onto the end of the HT wire and down to the coil. It is not necessary to remove the HT wire from the coil. Reroute the HT wire as it was back to the spark plug. Refit the cap boot and screw the wire back into the sparkplug cap. I noticed that under the ignition coil boot there was something like car door hinge wax. This is probably to repel water. Good idea to replace this.

Hope this helps someone. (^^)

Fly safe.

Hi Dobbs, from Alex Rudd, Leprechaun on the forum. You can also get them from the Comet Aviation.
