All are awesome aircraft.... believe.
Just a correction - it is not an MPL (microlight pilots license)any longer but now referred to as a NPL or National Pilots License and then with your specific type rating on type!
I agree with African Grey ... go fly each variant and compare apples with apples!

@Jean: I did not know that a Cubby is Chubby (as implied in the header:bushbaby explorer cheetah xls and Chubby)
Well, I have never seen one flying myself, but I assume a tandem design should be sleek and racy.
I have flown Safaries and Explorers (Buschbaby), and they are definitely a joy to fly and great value for the money . (But would not mind to check the other models as well).

@ Okflyer ....yes I saw that as well. I must say the new CUBBY frame is a bit more "chubby" than the old one
As soon as we start with this new one I will post some pics
Jean.

But nobody answers my question ?RV12 wrote:Mogas, do you suggest a maximum of 20 degrees flap on landing ?Mogas wrote:This leads to the nose wheel pilots not using the flap at all in the landing phase, the flap handle then simply becomes something to hang your handbag on

Re: bushbaby explorer cheetah xls and Cubby
We do not understand your question, you have been flying your plane for over a year. You should have figured out the flap settings by now.RV12 wrote:But nobody answers my question ?RV12 wrote:Mogas, do you suggest a maximum of 20 degrees flap on landing ?Mogas wrote:This leads to the nose wheel pilots not using the flap at all in the landing phase, the flap handle then simply becomes something to hang your handbag on
This is applicable to the Bushbaby.
- The empty CG normally tends to be a bit on the FWD side 19-21% MAC (this is even more true with nose wheel aircraft and ones with a 912 or VW)
- The elevator is marginal
- The flaperons create a large pitching moment even with a small amount of travel.
The idea of the flaperon in the BB is that the more AFT you load the plane the more flap can be used (within reason). The CG normally moves more aft with more load which counters the pitching moment making it usefull to still lower the stall (or keep it about the same) as you load more weight, and ensuring adequate elevator authority.
In the Explorer Mk2 and Safari this is not such a big consideration as the elevator is large and can overide any flap setting at any CG within the range.

Re: bushbaby explorer cheetah xls and Cubby
Suppose some differ. My Mk 1 Explorer uses full flaps takeoff as well as landing comfortably
With noticeably more lift.
