Yes John and THAT inspector has caused more doubt and heartsore than can be imagined! He needs a good klap since he upset and divided our community so much . He lacks management skills AND knowledge.

It does seem that certain persons moving through the ranks of the SAAF and then into positions of other authority seemingly lack people skills. Maybe they forget that they are working within a civilian scenario and this requires a totally different set of skills! Harsh words I utter but have another example of this in Upington playing out :shock:

None yet... Waiting in anticipation...

I think we really need to read Part 94.06.07 again.......

The wonderful word NOTWITHSTANDING means IRRESPECTIVE.

Under current regs, if a ramp inspector tries to moer you with regs contrary to what is published... you tell him stuur groete vir ouma!
Operation of amateur-built or production-built aircraft, including microlight aeroplanes

94.06.7
(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of –

(a) regulation 91.03.2 and regulation 91.03.5, a person may operate an amateur-built or production-built aircraft, including a micro
light aeroplane, without carrying on board a current, approved flight manual or flight folio should such carriage not be safely possible;

(b) Subpart 4 of Part 91, a person may operate an amateur-built or production-built aircraft, including a microlight aeroplane, if
the aircraft has been equipped with –
(i) a seat with an approved safety harness or safety belt for each person on board the aircraft;
(ii) a map which covers the complete route of the proposed flight; and
(iii) in the case of flight over water beyond gliding distance from shore, one lifejacket or individual floatation device for each person on board,
stored in a position easily accessible for such persons, or alternatively worn by such persons.

Hi guys,

Where can I find the current list of requirements for Ramp Inspection on the CAA website?

Is this still valid: http://www.caa.co.za/resource%20center/ ... ctions.htm
I know that a thermometer should be carried. This is not on the list.

What is the deal REALLY wrt fire extinguisher? The link above indicates that I do not require one. (Seven passengers?)

Where can I get the Visual Intercetion Signals" from?

Many thanks,

We got "nailed" this morning and this is what they found :

1. Verify Contents of first aid kit & Update (old first aid kit)
2. Always Sign LICENSE NO on the flight Folio
3. Always include FUEL UPLIFT on flight folio
4. We need a sticker at the fuel cap that’s says UNLEADED / MOGAS 95 and AVGAS ONLY
5. We need a METAL PLATE in the aerie saying ZU-*** for identification porposes.
6. Replace Compass SWING card to a readable one
7. Keep insurance docs in our aircraft folder
8. Reflective strips required as part of our kit.

Sorry, yes - items not mentioned were OK except the pilot did not have his latest medical on him. He just had his license. According to the pilot the CAA guy was very helpful. =D*
