I have recieved this from SACAA regarding what and what not should be available when you and your a/c is inspected by a police official or a SACAA official.
I did not draw this up so if there are nay comments please post them and I am sure CAA will take not and also make comments. ( I hope so)

This is for ZS a/c but lets have good look and see what is applicable to us.

Does the crew have all the relevant personal documentation available:
1. Is your license valid and signed by the holder Pilot's licence
2. Is your medical valid - in Pilot's Licence
3. Do you have the type rating endorsed or on your file copy - In Pilot's licence

I agree with Agent. CAA are under huge pressure to not loose their rating and they are going to clamp down heavily on non-commercial flying. As NTCA aircraft we are going to be under the microscope. Let's ensure that we are legal at all times

BTW I have attached a copy of my flight folio. Feel free to plagerise it to your requirements all certified copies are added at the back. Note that the aircraft logbook must NOT be in the plane. The back of the flight folio has about 20 or so pages of the 'flight log.doc' This doubles as the temp logbook

Checklist? Some of the experimental/homebuilt/micros are so basic a checklist is superfluous. Interesting exercise on a trike feeding one through the shredder at the back every time you perform an evolution.

I'd think the basic procedures in the POH should be sufficient.

Strictly speaking it is not the trike that needs the radio station licence, but the handheld radio. It is an ICASA regulation. Now how does one get a licence from the ICASA dudes?

Anybody got info on that?

Arnulf

Basically a ramp check is a ground inspection done by an appointed CAA inspector

A compass card is a small cardboard card showing the 8 directions, N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW. Written below each of those is the actual compass reading you will need to fly. Basically every installation of a compass and the quality of the compass causes the readings to deviate . For example ferrous metal in the cockpit with cause the compass to swing slightly. So you have to perform a compass swing test, placing the aircraft in the 8 headings and then take the reading off the actuall compass. In some compasses you get adjustable compensation magnets that you can use to try and get within 5deg of the actual heading. Then you write these headings down onto the card. For example

N - 4deg
NE - 42deg
E - 87deg etc
