Part 62 instructors - signing out Part 61 pilots

Postby John Boucher » Fri Jun 15, 2018 10:19 pm

Kudos to the perseverance of Dale de Klerk!!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The following documents must be submitted to licensing:

An endorsement in the pilot's logbook
File copy of the RAASA instructor (to certify the instructor is rated on the aircraft)
The Part 187 fee (if applicable)

The above process will enable the applicant's SACAA Part 61 file copy to be endorsed with the aircraft. Please note that a part 62 instructor shall not complete a CA 61.09.7 form for a licensing action involving a Part 61 pilot.

The SACAA will publish a form that accommodates this process in the future and will rectify the shortcoming in the present regulation.

Hi John

Thank you for getting this together and updating us.

Now the question. Can a NPL LSA Grade C instructor sign this? As there is no specific mention of instructor grade required. And there is no space for a "under supervision" instructor to sign as per CA 61-09.7

Can we thus assume that a Grade C will be sufficient?
