townships - vote swinging t shirts and or food. My housekeeper tells how they start arriving a few months/weeks/days before the election and hand out free stuff. sometimes includes 100 buck notes ...... Suddenly all is forgotten and the madness continues... viva democracy .

Probably all true, but tell me what other party should they vote for and what has that party done for or given to them? There is no party I want to vote for. :(

This particular party was actually responsible for distributing electricity to every mud hut in this country. Places where hitherto that, the idea of using electricity was stuff of legend, something akin to science fiction. I would like to receive that R100 note though, if only the above commentator could pry out of his housekeeper as to where they are handed out. And by the way, I met a smaller van filled to the brim with blue t shirts the other day, it was probably destined to other grateful Apes that prefer that particular colour.

So the blue shirt people are being outsmarted here, by eh.....the monkeys. They collect the shirts ( the blue ones) and come election day, they swiftly swing back to their branches to cast their ballots. What a conundrum to the blue shirt people.

Turbo is right, not a single pothole in Cape Town.
The streets are SWEPT at night  Seriously, trucks with washers and sweepers travel down our road once a week at least.
Someone stole a manhole cover in our street. The next day the City replaced it with a new non-metal one and rebuilt the housing to take it. Nogal.

I agree with Gyronaught...

Mossel Bay is no different. Streets are clean, no potholes, the robots work (so do the traffic cops ;-) )

Had a burst pipe in our street the other day - reported it, team came, went door to door telling us to take some emergency water supplies as they were going to switch of the line, worked through the night so that we could have running water the next morning!

Pot hole may appear after the rain, it gets repaired.

The sidewalks that grass on are cut...

Traveled to Postmasburg on Thursday via George - Uniondale - Graaff Reinet - Middelburg - Colesburg - Bloemfontein - Boshoff - Kimberley - Barkly West.... The degradation of infrastructure is so apparent the minute you leave the Western Cape. The Eastern Cape is atrocious, Free State poor and the Northern Cape pathetic - why - the local governments have other ideas iro running a town or city!
