For those of you who dont know where Microland is. The airfield is located approx 2.5miles NW of the Bapsfontein Tower along the R50 PTA/Delmas road. We have 6 runway directions, the longest being 03/21 (400m). Microland is home to a great many microlighters, and has a resident AP and Flying school. Our frequency is FABA 120.35

Apologies... NW (Mhdg 306 deg) of the tower.
Was at ML on Sat to work on the plane and the conditions looked great. No wind on the deck, some nice smooth gliding approaches were demonstrated by student and resident alike. I think I'm missing the best time of year to fly!

Hi Alan;
I will come take a look this week-end hopefully... if not definitely next Saturday. Glad it's coming along nicely. I'm sure you're missing the flying as I am. I can't wait to fly... missing it so bad....
See you soon...

Nou wat nou? Ek het lekker uitgesien om almal se stories hier te lees en nou is dit doodstil.
Lyk my niemand vlieg nie, want hulle HANGAR TE LEKKER!
I had a training flight this morning and Mervin sent me out to go find Bronkhorstspruit dam. Not the most difficult bit of nav in the world, but the highlight was trying to stay out of the way of two separate helicopters flying in from the west. Myself and another pilot had to do a song & dance in the circuit to stay out of their way - never heard a word from them on the radio and they came in right on the northern edge of the GF. I guess radio work is optional if you fly that fast...

Ah....finally.....someone from ML noticed this thread
Thanks BC, I must admit...I let this slip a bit due to the whole rebuild thing....I gues you could say I lost my mojo for a while
Got me some new wings Let's try keep it goin.
BHS dam is a rather busy piece of real estate. On a Sat morning it can be a nightmare. I've circumnavigated the dam with 7 other planes, some going clockwise, some opposite...all flying at 6500 Keep your eyes peeled and yes...some guys dont know what a radio is for unfortunately.
I too have had a few "surprises" with aircraft routing in from the SE and NW respectively. I think a lot of pilots don't know that FABA is a registered field with it's own frequency. Usually Traffic exiting/routing for/from Pinedene. I changed to SRE frequency the one time and managed to make contact with an RV that flew directly above me in the circuit at ML...he simply did not know about FABA ...he appologised though and so the education continues....
Stef and I are at ML tommorrow. Stef will be taking his first flight in The Beautiful Dawn.....we BOTH need serious circuit practice Jol around the tower and the GF for a while then head back for a quick braai. Bring some wors bud...come park in the lapa and practice some "strondpraat"
Catch you on the apron.

Caught up with Stef and Paul on my way back from Nylstroom this morning.
Was actually a bit sad to fly back "home" with my flying buddy of many years , Astrix, going the other way to his new home. I am sure he will feel right at home between the Potties manne.

Ja Buddy - it felt very strange when I broke formation, and banked away to the north, watching the Red Raptor becoming small under my upper wing. Luckily I know we'll meet up often - first one - long weekend in August - Kokoriba. Bookings done!
BUNDY Gaan jy saam met Bugwar vlieg vir die naweek? Ek het 'n hele chalet vir myself - as jy nie snork nie kan jy share!
En o-ja: Microland will always be "home" to me!
