Really frustrating when trying to establish the various FAD's restrictions and radio frequencies Flying FASC to FANY and can't find the official web page. Any help? VFR planner is very nice but I don't find the FAD's FAR's etc.
Attended a safety talk and was asked by a CAA official what my opinion was for them to provide better safety awareness.
I said to cater for the oke playing at work on the net and from his phone who wants to access simple information without passwords, multi links to various agencies otherwise we rely on unsubstantiated flying forums.
She was shocked and when I asked her to plot a straight line flight through a restricted or controlled area she had no idea. OK she was not a pilot but from a sterile admin point of view thought they had the safety info issue sorted.
Is it only me?

Have you seen this map?
http://skyvector.com/
The interactive map is quote nice, but unfortunately no frequencies. But if you enlarge the map, it has plenty of detail.

Re: Flight Planning- FAD 60 ?
Thanks. I've searched that one which indicates all the zones very clearly as well as www.vfrplanning.org but can't find the detail of the zone. Computerised Map indicates altitude reference but not radio frequencies. Will look if I have a hard copy, sometimes they print more detail on the back page.
Can understand why there is so much confusion around Harties/ Wonderboom etc when out- of -towners come barging through the airspace and the locals have their own understanding of frequencies.

Checked on easyplan
FAD 60 - Nylstroom training area
Vertical bounds FL085/GND
Freq: 131.10
Just check if no notams were issued for this weekend.

Thank you.
Is this info available online from the CAA or ATNS web page because I can't find it?
Happy to admit stupidity if the info is blatantly obvious but it doesn't appear so.

Hi Tumbleweed
Not sure that it is available online, on the CAA website. And, if it is, the chance of finding the info is so slim for any normal and abnormal human. That website is totally user unfriendly and a maize of information that is not related to us as pilots.
The good news is that the CAA is working to get the AIP also onto the website... Then the only challenge will be to find it in the haystack....

Agree. By the way, on one of the give- away frequency charts received at Nylstroom, all the restricted zones for greater Gauteng Northern Tvl with freq are nicely displayed on the back page.
