Re: Ramp Inspection List

Hullo Gert.

I think it would be better to start a new thread for this topic of renewals?

There are issues that need to be addressed.

I would like to comment, but would rather have this under a new thread.

Regards.

Hi folk.

..and a good Sunday morning to you all.

Firstly, to 'the Agent', a big thankyou for the first post, and starting this thread.

To Barry, once again thanks for this page.

To the members, well done for debating this to it's final, logical and deserved outcome. Even to those, both here and on Avcom, who had nothing to say but said it anyway

To Braam, Andre, Piet, Daniel, and others at the CAA, thankyou for coming to the party.

Now that we have established without doubt what the legal position is, I would like to continue the debate, under a new thread. To those of you interested, please follow the thread, and comment... the thread will be called 'Ramp, the debate continues'

Regards.

Regards.

Thanks Morph. Did CAA make any comment on the requirement of signal strips?

As far as signal strips goes they are prepared to accept the following

Two space blankets (R10 each) to be cut in half if neccesary to make up the 4 strips (your medical kit should have a scissors

print out this document, cut out the printed sections, should be about 140mm X 100mm, put the 2 sections back to make a double sided document and laminate it. ALternatively just print it out on an A4 and fold it.

Put the two together and you have nice compact double purpose signal strips (blankets can be used for warmth, and if neccessary cut in half to provide signals)

You need a flight test. It's not just a question of sighning the papers.
Of course, and

the strips: will the wing on a flexwing suffice?

Hey, lets say I have hypothetically ended up in a ditch. This happened because I have now loaded 20kg of documentation, a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, etc etc. This added weight has now resulted in me becoming disorientated on the take-off roll, when I decided that I will open the regulation map to see how much runway I have left. This has resulted in the map blowing over my face, which resulted in an instant IFR scenario. Thus the ditch. I think it will be some time until I will be able to appreciate a strip of any sorts. I don't think I would be in a position to cut anything into strips, let alone getting out the space blanket, cutting it into regulation strips, finding an open spot to lay them out nicely, if I can remember how (since the little paper went up in the merry CAA documentation bonfire as well), after I have splinted my broken leg with the regulation splint.

But yes, I am quite prepared to cut it into strips. What a load of $%££"%^

Hi Dave Daniel,

Just want to thank you for fighting on our behalf and going where many of us me included fear to tread.

Your passion for flying and fairness as well as simplicity and logic in regard to the regs is an inspiration.

Thank you for all your effort.

Kind regards,

I have read through these posts a number of times (most of them anyway) and compiled a list of the doc's to be carried on aircraft and other such requirements. But I get the impression that all this applies to trikes and that the above posts refer to trikes only. Has anyone done similar work for the LSA category, and if so please point out how to access this. Thanks

Rod Smith
