Neville Duke - Fighter Ace and Test Pilot has left us

As a boy at my school in Mbeya, Tanganyika, I loved to read about the exploits of Battle of Britain pilots like Sailor Malan, Bob Stanford Tuck and Douglas Bader. But in my wildest imaginations I never thought I would ever cross their paths in real life. But on April 7, the same day I flew my new Qu...

Demon, there are 55 Quik GT450's on the UK Register. Are you telling us that there will soon be 9 in SA - that makes 1/6th of the UK fleet! That is impressive!

I have to echo what Leprachaun says, and have put Dreamer's question to the BMAA. The placarded Vne (never exceed speed) happens to have a 10% safety factor built in, which probably explains how Alex got away with it. His Quik will have been test flown to 115mph x 1.1 = 126.5 mph by the factory. Thi...

The MGL Avionics Fuel Flow System is definitely next on the agenda, but there are some formal BMAA approval requirements to follow so I decided to leave it as a post factory modification. There is an issue with the hose diameters not being compatible with the flow sender unit. How did you reconcile ...

The waiting is over....

My new P&M Aviation Quik GT 450 gets delivered next week to my home airfield at Enstone, Oxfordshire, in the heart of England.
Looking forward to comparing notes with Demon.

Congratulation Demon - this is will change the face of expedition flying in Africa. But just watch those brakes. We have had several Quiks turn over in the UK on landing due to overenthusiatic application of the rear wheel hydraulic disc brakes. One GT-450 bit the dust in this way only two weeks ago...

Its already in the UK bookshops. I wandered into Waterstone's in Oxford last Saturday and stumbled across it in the Aviation section. Once I got home I couldn't put it down. Ricky sheds a lot of light on what they went through - physically, emotionally, psychologically as well as technically. Everyt...

Yes, I've been absent because I get so homesick every time I visit your site so I try to avoid it! Its been quite an eye opener seeing how aviation works in the northern hemisphere. The UK airspace is very busy and structured. That and the more changeable weather led me to decide to go through an ex...

Looking forward to your reports. Currently I have managed to put in about 15 hours dual on the GT450 in the UK and am about to take the plunge and part with R1/4 million for my own.

Will watch this thread with great interest.

Have fun.

Demon, this is most interesting. About a month ago 7 of us were passing through Middelburg enroute to Lydenburg and landed for a break. On taking off on 14 we heard someone call long finals on 32 (no location given). Repeated requests to this last caller to identify himself and his position were ign...

Mc Gyver, Can you clarify something. You say " I entered our airfield on the GPS so as to have an arrow to follow to keep straight Did you mean the pointer was pointing back to the airfield you took off from? If so, that may be the source of the difficulty. The arrow would move if you flew off the r...
