Re: Tracking Devices
Much cheaper than any of the systems that work on cellphone reception, is available on vfrplanner.co.za You only need a cellphone that has got a GPS and it cost less than R100 per year. It is all on this fantastic website. You download VFR Tracker onto your phone, activate it and fly. The whole fami...

Re: Jab Engines - the good and the bad?
In the words of the well known and highly respected Kevin Hopper "fuel it, cool it and lube it, and it will run forever" - havent heard a bad word about a jabi' engine, know first had of 2 engine outs both fuel related, one resulted in a LOB and the other, simply restarted and carried on flying... ...

Re: LOWRANCE AIRMAP GPS vs. GARMIN
I have been told by the suppliers that Lowrance does not make aviation GPS's any more!! So, rather get the Garmin. I have a Airmap 2000C and like the big screen and display, but cannot update the aviation map. You need to use the "Map Create" program to do that, and that program is not compatable wi...

Spoke to Louis at Springs. He said that most engine failures on Jabbie's he has inspected, was fuel related, mostly detonation.

I wonder if the cooling ducts made for the Bantam would not work if they are swopped around. (left with right)

Re: Legal "Flipping"
Thanks Slabfish.
I phoned RAASA. Part 96 is the authority for "non-certified" types. RAASA is now in the process to arrange a new procedure that will be much cheaper and easier to get than the present system, and should be in operation before the world-cup.

Legal "Flipping"
What is the legal requirements, except a Commercial, or better licence, to be able to legally take passengers for a flip for renumeration in a ZU registered airplane? I have been informed that I will basically need a Charter Licence, which will cost in excess of R60,000.!!!
Thanking You,
Hansk

Re: Who flies what and where?
I flew a Bantam 6 from a private strip in the Rust de Winter area. Latest toy is a Foxbat. Thinking of starting a fly-inn destination as we are forming a big 5 game reserve here.
Enjoy.

Re: Wanted- something to fly!!!
I agree with my friend, Flip. If you need a Quad Bike with wings, it should be a Bantam 6. (took me two years, flying everything I could lay my hands on, to decide). Very safe, powerfull, fun to fly, even in the worst of gusty crosswinds. All I am saying is: CHECK IT OUT. If U are stingking rich, bu...
