Re: What would be the/your perfect Gyro??
but not a lot of advise came from the question I asked, so I'll go and try out the different types.... Good plan! The difficulty in answering your question is that there is no one-size-fits-all "ideal gyro" - it depends very much on how comfortably, how far, how fast, where and what you wish to do ...

Re: What would be the/your perfect Gyro??
what would be your ideal Gyro interms of of specs and design and comfort? By coincidence, just about every unsolicited sales pitch starts with the proverbial "what would be your ideal xyz" type of question... Tell us Knighthawk, are you buying or selling? Just kidding with you... As Yod...

Re: XWind Dragon
Of all the prevailing winds in the Cape - I find the south wester to be the worst one for mountain flying. The reason for this is probably threefold: 1. The south easter shows its presence with white table cloths over the table mountain and hottentots holland ranges. You see it - you knows it's blow...

Analysis of metals used in gyroplanes
One often hears interesting (and differing opinions) about what metals are best suited (or indeed unsuitable) for (relatively high-vibration) gyro manufacturing applications and I came across an interesting analysis of typical metals used in gyroplanes construction on another forum which I thought I...

Re: Autogyros vs Gyrocopters
When making a radio tx I prefer to use the term "gyrocopter" (rather than "gyroplane" or "autogyro"). My rationale for this is based on safety in that I feel "copter" better conveys that I am flying a rotory-wing aircraft, and as such other pilots have a better mental picture of what to be on the lo...

She's been at Saldanha Bay Yacht Club having an engine overhaul, and one of the other co-owners will hopefully be taking her back across the lagoon to her mooring at Kraal Bay this week.FLYNOTE wrote:Im off to Langebaan on Tuesday for a week. Whatever happened to the trimaran?

Re: That game of darts...
PTKay and Learjet, we all know the theory of gyros and rotor blades in gyrocopters.... ($$) ($$) The RAF fuselage has no aerodynamic controls therefore could be considered a dead weight hanging below a rotor disc. To the contrary, may I very politely point out the following aerodynamic forces actin...

Re: That game of darts...
Take a hellicopter (which i think was refered to above as there is a big difference), make a bracket attachment, that does not interfere with rotor movement for the rotors, and hang it so the rotor centre is secure. Move the controls and you will find the anle of attack off the rotors will move up a...

Re: That game of darts...
Hi PtKay. Thanks for the post. Lets make this informative for all to learn...... Maybe we should look at what controle systems is incorperated into which aircraft, direct or reversed? Lets say both microlight ( weight shift ) and Gyro has a direct stick attachement to the flying surface? What is th...

A Flat back wheel can probably also cause a roll over situation on landing, but I'm not sure... maybe someone with experience can shed some light... Provided the landings is "normal" in all other respects, a flat tyre shouldn't pose a significant roll-over risk. I've had two landings with a main ge...

Re: Rotor: 2 blade vs 4 blade
Thi, I thinks its probably a case of cost versus benefit. 4 bladed rotor system necessitates a more complex rotor head, additional weight, requires more hangar space and is ultimately a more expensive machine to manufacture - without necessarily offering a vastly superior flight envelope for the pri...
