Re: Kitty Hawk Runway ??

Thanks Air Hog!

But it then begs the question: Why aren't ALL local airfields out of sync and in need of renumbering? Or are they??

Kitty Hawk Runway ??

Please forgive any ignorance on my part, but could someone explain why KItty Hawk's runways and Google Earth are not in sync? I would greatly appreciate someone pointing out the reason for the variance, i.e Google Earth would indicate the runways as 18/36 and yet they are marked 19/01. Many thanks, ...

Ya, those are really nice! I was not aware that Leatherman made a "vicegrip" type device!

I've just added these onto my Christmas wish list!

What's in your Pannier Bags?

OK, OK, so this might be tantamount to asking a lady to reveil the contents of her handbag!! Eish!! But, why not share that ONE item that you would NEVER fly without? Here's mine . . . . . a pair of Knipex pliers (code 86-03-180)! They are freakin' amazing . . . . relatively light weight, supe...

Re: The cost of filling up...

WIth the benefit of a company fuel card I must say that I am always a trifle embarrassed when someone asks me the fuel consumption of my car, which I REALLY don't know to any degree of accuracy - I know the tank now costs R850 to fill, and that's about as far as it goes!! Now, if they asked m...

Re: Proposed "sticky": MET ACADEMY

Great Idea! (^^) Also, how about listing the BEST and MOST RELIABLE sources of good weather information ( http://www.wearthersa.co.za , http://www.windguru.com , other?) at the top of such a "sticky", and also, from our more experienced "weather flyers" , to provide some examples of INTERPRETA...

New Lodges at Aeroden!

Greetings Fellow Aviators!! A quick view of the new lodges at Aeroden!! At the moment there is some spare hanger space (to overnight - but check with Basie when booking!), so fly in, meet the fam there, and have a chilled couple of days. http://www.aeroden.co.za 25°43'36.00"S 27°44'23.00"E Elevation...

Aeroden Runway Intrusion!

Just a quick headsup to fellow aviators planning on landing at Aeroden (runway 18) . . . . . "WATCH OUT FOR THE WILDLIFE!"

Even flying over the airstrip you will need to look hard to see these critters!

Safe Flying! (-)

Re: Do Microlight Pilots use Checklists?

Excellent post Gavin . . . . ON THE $$$$ . . . . try to remember as much as possible, then use a checklist to double check you have everything covered off.

Many thanks,

Re: Do Microlight Pilots use Checklists?

Hi Alan, Great post, and good checklist examples, so thank you! I hear both sides of the argument. However, when it comes to lives being at risk, my humble opinion is that there cannot be anything left to chance (memory?), and, unfortunately that means "checklists"!! Hopefully we will get further op...

Re: Bloodhound SSC - taking "Low Flying" to a new level!

Hi Alan, The cool thing about this is that there wil be a huge PR campaign to have as many lookers-on as possible! Why is the test being run in South Africa? Firstly, are you sitting down? You sure?? Because our local government officials were so accommodating! FACT!! They even "uplifted" a road acr...
