Re: What happened to Sycamore south of Rhino park ?

What you show there and describe is very good signs of Detonation. Our Ozzie mate can take this further, he understand engines better than Rugby... Loose cylinder head studs on some cylinders will not cause lean mixture under high power, no air will be sucked in during inlet stroke.. The "leakage ma...

Re: Gyros burning after impact?

Well, what more can I say. I don't feel offended just a bit disappointed when our energy is seen as " A self-styled "garlic & beetroot" approach using "home made" fuel tanks. I have no problem if the SAGPA members feel we must not waste our time on this effort. I will step back and support anybody w...

Re: Gyros burning after impact?

Good morning, I can report back that this action has not started to slow down. So far : - we have obtained a "fire blanket" ( R 546.89 ) - Richard Herber helped me out while I was in Cape town and he has collected 3 m^2 of a special "heat shield" mat which we are using to insulate exhaust systems ( ...

Re: Gyros burning after impact?

Under T 561 the gyro only need to withstand the following during an emergency landing : T 561 General a) The gyroplane, although it may be damaged in emergency landing conditions, must be designed as prescribed in this paragraph to protect each occupant under those conditions. Re: Gyros burning after impact?

Good morning, A few more comments: Thanks for that link to the FAR 27 standards. Now to put it in perspective. That is what you can expect from the Full Type Certified side of Aviation. If a machine is Type Certified it WILL comply with these requirement OR it may apply for exemption from any partic...

Re: Gyros burning after impact?

On a further note. I ma not saying that a fuel pipe will never tear during an accident, but I am not aware of engine - airframe seperation in any of the accidents> Now as long as the engine and airframe stay together I think the only way the fuel line can tear or be compromised is by an object hitti...

Re: Gyros burning after impact?

Guys, please understand that this forum is not the official SAGPA "circular", but in the same light I respect the fact that a lot of SAGPA members are active on this forum. I am the one who said we need to consult and debate a matter within the SAGPA Committee first before making or releasing statem...

Re: CAA Certification on the UFO Gyro

I think this is what you wanted to show, really red hot exhaust stack. The turbine housing was actually also Cherry red in colour, but the picture was taken after we already came back on the power so only the exhaust pipes are still pink in colour..... And then.........the exhaust manifold split ope...
