Eagle1, it was tremendous to have you visit. Your enthusiasm for Gyro's is remarkable and I share your sentiments for these fantastic machines. Pity the weather didnt really play along although I do feel that we accomplished our mission. I've attached a few pics just to remind you what its like on a...

'Newest First' default?

Is there a setting somewhere that will always show posts in 'newest first' sequence or do you have to scroll to the bottom and change it every time?

Good on you Callie, thats quite a bit of flying! Let the Gyro's be seen. I still dont know if I should mix 95/106 octane or just use the 95. Engine is running very nicely overall and the temps are spot-on. Summit? Send me a google earth placemark? Have used the Hydromulch field in that vicinity, yea...

Thanks T-bird. I have a slight conundrum (if I understand you correctly). On the one hand you say AVGAS (100 octane?) can burn valves on a 914. On the other hand I have heard from others also that one should use the highest octane available. It is rather more expensive but is available at my cabbage...

Thanks guys. Its due for its 100 hour service soon and I will ask the AP to be sure its tuned correctly. In the meantime, why would 100 octane be 'good' for it? does it burn colder? cleaner?

"justin.schoeman wrote: Most common cause (that I know of) is carbon build-up" As a total novice in this field, please elaborate? Carbon buildup can foul the valves I guess and what else? Where does the fuel/air mixture come from if the fuel pumps are off, the throttle is closed? I can still underst...

Ballistic Chutes

Thanks Arnulf, I spoke to Abe in December and he was in contact with the Sycamore factory engineers but am still awaiting their input.

Perhaps I should call Abe and remind him...

Ballistic chute on a Gyro?

I lost a good friend, my instructor and namesake in a gyro accident last year as a result of rotor seperation in flight. I have spoken to the guys at GRS and am awaiting info re a chute for my gyro. Has anyone ever had any experience in how/where best to attach if deployed? My logic tells me that if...

Junkie's Accident - a debate regarding claims and insurance

I welcome the positive turn to the discussion and will certainly attend a meeting with regard to insurance issues. On the topic at hand... herewith My 2 zim cents' worth… Firstly let me make it clear I stand neutral on the whole issue until the facts are clear and even then I will be careful a...
