Re: CAA Certification on the UFO Gyro

The UFO recieved ATF today, thanks to Johan von Ludwigh and Braam Hechter (^^) (^^) (^^)

There is a lot to be said, but I am very grateful.

Next would be conversion, and then to fly the UFO home (^^)

Re: CAA Certification on the UFO Gyro

Hi all We checked the boost on the turbo yesterday, since the UFO didn't have a rate of climb as it should. For some obscure reason the boost dropped to 1.1 under full throttle  Back on the test bench, Johan turned the boost up to be 1.4 at full power. To see the result I joined as co-pilot A...

Re: EK WIL AL WEER SEE TOE..

So if anybody is interested but you have more limited dates - let me know Since I read your post, it has been on my mind. I will be in Sudwana from 8 to 24 Dec. Will decide later on if I will take the trike by road or fly the gyro down to Sudwana. Depends on the weather. Will be watching this topic...

Re: New Airfield in Hartbeespoort

Hi oom Piet We have not set a date for opening yet, will get going in November, mowing the grass and removing trees to get at least 500m available. The rest will be a week to week operation. We would like it to be a pilot friendly runway, summer and winter, that means it will not be a quick- quick, ...

No, definitely not, any aircraft that is able to take off safely
on a 1km runway is welcome.

Hangers will take some time, but we will get there.

Die laaste was SYCA-FO  Proving Hours is just about completed, We want to make n small mod to the front wheel before the paperwork gets done. Small things that changed lately. We moved the tri...

New Airfield in Hartbeespoort

I would like to get some comments from gyro pilots asto what they would like in an airfield. What we can offer is basicly a 36/18 close to Zilkaatsnek on a plot, south of the Magaliesberg. 36 would be taking of uphill, most of the time a wind from the north thru Zilkaatsnek, helping with takeoff. 18...

Re: CAA Certification on the UFO Gyro

We had a busy week at Wagtail. After more test flights, Johan was satisfied with UFO's performance, exhaust etc. With daily temperature rising so did the water temp. Replaced a water radiator with a larger one, now the water temp is 88 deg at full power. EGT in cruise 940°C. Oil temp stay around 80°...

Re: CAA Certification on the UFO Gyro

The time came for the UFO to fly again this week, Johan has been doing some more test flights. All seem to be in order and I should be able to start with the conversion soon. I have upload a video clip on youtube from the past months footage made with my cell phone. Search for "UFO RSA" or follow th...

Re: CAA Certification on the UFO Gyro

Darren, I appreciate your concern. I will double check the air fuel ratio, boost is only 1.4, injector size is standard for the EJ20, compression ratio 8 to 1 and timing will be double checked as well. This temp on the EGT is not abnormal. Johan has all the contacts and info at his fingertips, with ...
