Re: Wanted- something to fly!!!

Seems you are looking for a toy. Why don't you go for a powered parachute from Buckeye. The closest you will ever come to real flying with the wind in your face. A very forgiving aircraft. This is a fairweather aircraft though. Have a look http://www.buckeyeaviation.com. Very safe and the absolute i...

Re: Inner Tubes - where ??

Try Dominator Spares in Benoni. Their service was excellent when I needed tyres and tubes.

Re: Replacing coolant on 582

If your radiator is the highest point in the system the low point drain is a small 6mm bolt on the bottom of the water pump. This will drain all the coolant out of the engine. You can then refill with flushing water and drain again a couple of times. Distilled water would be best though tap water wo...

Peltor headset repair

My peltor headset has a problem with the wiring I suppose. The microphone does not work. Is the opening and repair something I should attempt as DIY or rather send for professionals. Don't seem to see how on earth to open this unit- no screws or clips. Any advice ? Bought these in Cape Town couple y...

Re: Solo in powered parachute trike

For interest sake cjkrit - what is take off and landing distance in your karretjie ? If solo its about 50 meters and I am airborne. About 80 meters dual to take off. Landing needs about 20-30 meters. The short video that I took of my sons first solo flight shows that he was airborne in 7 seconds fr...

Re: Solo in powered parachute trike

How much lighter or heavier is that undercarriage than the conventional trike? Can that wing/parachute then not also be fitted to a trike? The empty weight is 150kg and the total weight is 400kg. I suppose for the technical minded it should be possible to convert a conventional trike to take the ch...

Re: Solo in powered parachute trike

Solo in powered parachute trike

My 21 year old son, CJ, went on his first solo flight in a Buckeye DM on Wednesday 1st July. This was in Burgersdorp at 7am with an outside temperature of minus 5 degrees. The adrenaline was pumping and a very proud young man landed safely after 3 circuits. (^^) I want to congratulate him and wish h...

Relief for firearms owners

The court decided in favour of firearm owners that the existing lisences will be valid for an extended period. Info? This will give us time to sell these or give them as a gift instead of handing them in. Waiting for more detail on the court judgment. Thanks to SA Jagters en Wildbewaringsvereniging ...
