DH9 restoration
I am currently based in the UK working for a historic aircraft restoration company restoring WW1 and WW2 aircraft. Our latest work is an airworthy DH9 that will soon be get its permit to test. I believe Pierre van Ryneveld with Quinton Brand flew a DH9 on the last leg of his record breaking flight f...

Re: The KWiK R story
Demon, if you don't object I'll be turning up at Rietfontein on Saturday morning to watch you unpack and to also conduct an honorary inspection of ZU-KWK on behalf of the BMAA. This is just too much of an important international microlight occasion to let pass without marking it formally. KD

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting
Hi Oliver, Thanks for explaining the origins of your username - I was sort of pulling your leg. Even I understood very little about flexwing design when I first started flying weightshift controlled microlights. As you point out, the stated probable cause of ZU-AVT's loss focuses on the resulting st...

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting
That's the best advice of all, Conrad - "be happy and safe with what you have or get another trike". Redistributing the weight in the trike does affect the 'hands off' trim distance of the bar from your belly, and therefore indirectly gives you more or less pitch authority, but that effect is somewh...

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting
Wargames suggested "Attach a bungee to nose plate of the wing, and then with a pulley type system, pull bungee taught to achieve higher speed, and fasten bungee to boom tube." No, don't do it, this is outright dangerous, as I will explain later below. Conrad suggested "Check the weight distribution ...

Re: Aiden de Gersigney - RIP
This is devastating news. I can't believe this gentle man is with us no more. His name will live on as a founding father in the history of microlighting. Farewell Aidan. It has been a privilege to have known you.

Hi Demon, Could you possibly tell me the Serial Number of your 912S that failed? Was it really a 912S or was it a 912ULS. They are the same, but are made in different batches and have different serial number ranges. The Service Bulletin SB-912-051UL applies to all engines after S/N 5645990 and SB-91...
