Re: Ramp Check= Aviation killer

I Have worked with CAA for 30+ years. Insitutions exsists and survive because of gray area's. It is a job creator of note. I have an audit at least once a month. Every new arrival has a different angle on what is required and openly states what the previous guy wants is not required. We just do what...

Re: Part 24, Doing your own maintenance

I think if the owner knows what he is doing, the more he does on his aircraft the better. As long as there are definite guide lines what will qualify as line maintenance. All aircraft owners knowledge and comfort levels are different. Two stroke engine overhaul is not rocket science and if the owner...

Re: Servicing costs ??

So why if i love my job do i have to charge less and not be able to have any toys. You might think changing spark plugs does not need special skills. How may owners have you seen use a torque wrench on a spark plug. I am sure the garage service your car for R50 an hour. Work out how many microlights...

Re: Servicing costs ??

I think R650 for spark plug change is a very good price. I will not even look at it for R690.00 never mind driving to go and do it away from base being held liable for a year not knowing what the owner does to it. All you guys complaining about the cost must be able to afford you toys working for fr...

It is all about who has the money to be sued when the person dies in an accident. AMO's was created for the same reason. AME's use to sign out aircraft untill they found out the poor guy's have no money to be sued. AMO has to pay insurance which pushes up the prices. :?
