Re: Ramp Inspection List
There are a couple of documents on the ICAO website, detailing how inspectors should behave: The following is an extract from the ICAO Airworthiness Inspector Manual. Does CAA not have to comply with ICAO? 1.3.1.2 Airworthiness Inspectors (AWI’s) must not only have the knowledge, experience and qu...

Re: WARNING to all!
CAA are taking the 'ramp check list seriously! Inspectors visited Morningstar to carry out these checks and this poster was caught flying without some of the required items on board - right down to those signal strips! I guess they are only doing their job and now I await the outcome - possible ret...

BTW, a radio station licence cannot be issued if you have a portable radio. Only for built-in radios. For portable radio's, you require a radio licence (not the same as radio operating certificate), which is issued by ICASA as well, but does not have the aircraft registration on it, but rather the ...

Re: Ramp Inspection List
And btw... The red airlaw book has been written for the standard PPL, and as far operations go, have very little to do with NTCA!
You can download the entire CATS and CARs from the CAA website in PDF format.
Volume 2 has all the CARs, and Volume 3 the CATS that apply to this discussion...

Hi Morph I must say, I am extreeeeeemly dissapointed in your previous posts!!! There are also some proposed CATS on the CAA website, with some real gems like this one: (b)The width of the runway shall be adequate for the type of aircraft, according to manufacturer’s recommendations, but not less than twice the width of the main landing gear of any aircraft using the runway. ...

Re: Compulsory registration of airfields
Herewith the reasons as outlined by CAA for such a thing... Registered Aerodromes During the almost ten years of the Civil Aviation Authority’s existence, the number of licensed aerodromes varied between the 135 to 140 mark. These aerodromes were subjected to annual inspections according to ICAO- ...

Compulsory registration of airfields
Hi Everyone As many of you know already, there is a proposal from CAA to register all airfields in South Africa, which would mean that it will be an offence to take off from an unregistered airfield (except if you are flying a chopper). This will be a disaster for microlight airfields, most of which...

Re: Happy Birthday Annie
Hey everyone Thanks for the lovely surprise! Tumbleweed, Secunda realy has a special airfield, and the last time I flew in there your appearance in the GT450 made my day :) BTW, I left there just after 5pm, and had lots of fun waiting for two other IF flights into PMB before doing a very bumpy 3NDB ...
