Re: BMW Engines Which one ?

[...] To recap: the 650gs engine is actually an 800cc engine with 71hp and 2 cylinders. So now again, reading that, the better engine would obviously be the 85hp one. But the weight issue is still on us. Then you can just as well install a 1150. Not to forget that it's difficult to get rid of the 6...

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting

Hi kill_devil, thanks a bunch for your reply. Let me first explain my nickname - I used to live in Mettmann / Germany which is located in the "Neandertal" where the early human "Neanderthal" was discovered and after which he was named. vhpy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neanderthal I just read the re...

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE

What might also be interesting are the new 4 cylinder, 1.4 TSI engines from Volkswagen with 122 or 160 hp and direct fuel injection. However, it might be quite expensive to get them for a reasonable price, including the ECU, as they are quite new so that you will get them only new as a "spare part"....

582 mixture control devices? HACman? Any experience?

Hi! I would like to add a mixture control device to my Rotax 582. The only company which I found is "Green Sky Adventures" from the USA and their product called HACman. http://www.greenskyadventures.com/bing/HACmandetails.htm Does anybody have experience with it? Are there other manufacturers with s...

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting

Hi! I tried the bungee idea last Saturday during 300 Km of my 470 Km trip, as long as the air was calm - I absolutely loved it! I was cruising at about 100 Km/h instead of the 77 Km/h trim speed without any efforts. puff vhpy The only downside was the high fuel consumption of my 582 of almost 18 l/h...

Re: ROTAX REPLACEMENT WANTED

I think that there are quite a few motorbikes engines out there which would perfectly meet the requirements of us pilots and which are well engineered, proven and built in cheap mass production. However, when you have a closer look at them, the BMW boxer engines are currently the only motorbike engi...

Re: ROTAX REPLACEMENT WANTED

I would love to see a cheap, fuel saving replacement for the 582, as the HKS 700e engine is around 10000 Euros or 11500 ZAR here in Germany - more than the value of my trike!  I'm thinking of the conversion of a standard, large series production engine like the BMWs. Just lighter and w...

Re: Possible new runway

The runway of our local microlight school is just 320 m long which is no problem at all and far more than needed. For this reason I think that 250 m should be absolutely fine for somebody who is not a absolute beginner, doing his first starts and landings.

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting

@kloot piloot

I think that my wing is OK and as designed.
As I don't want to drill any holes in it or fiddle around, and as the idea with the bungee sounds absolutely great, I will go that way and try it first.

Cheers,

Oliver

Re: Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting

Hi! Thanks a bunch for all your replies! vhpy I already felt a little bit dump - after reading the specs of various wing manufacturers which show a huge cruise speed range without a trim device, I though there must be some kind of trick to keep the bar pulled that far over a longer period. Or that t...

Going faster(er) in my trike is quite exhausting

Hi! I own a Cosmos trike with a Top 12 wing. The speed range goes up to more than 120 Km/h, hands off trim speed is a little above 80 Km/h. I find it quite exhausting to go, let's say, 100 Km/h for a longer period. To achieve this speed I have to pull the bar quite gently, however even this constant...

huh? where are you getting this from? [...] I also can't see a change of the course. Looks like they are still going straight. However, I am wondering if it is true what is displayed in Google Earth - everytime I check the current status I see the message "INVALID GPS FIX". I am wondering where the...
