Re: What to know when buying a Gyro

Heheheheheh. Interesting stuff on the other post! Yes, if you want to buy a gyro make sure you know what you are buying or get the Vaseline out for a serious lesson in asset selection.... One poster even boasted that he had many happy hours flying a Sycamore with an illegal 33ft rotor. I think I mus...

Re: Sycamore gyro's with aluminium rotors

I have a set of Sycamore doors for anyone who is having problems keeping his chickens inside the cockpit of his gyro in the back yard.....
Seriously, I do have a set which can be collected for free at Eagles Creek, and you can have the original pre-rotator and flexible cable too if you need a spare.

Re: That game of darts...

Don't know why I'm getting involved here but...
Bladerunner - "mothers of RAF pilots gave birth to legends" as you say. Surely you know that "RAF'refers to Royal Airforce or more recently Rhodesian Airforce and not Rotary Airforce. Now that is a fine example of what you call ignorant!

Conversion NPL gyro to LSA?

Can anyone tell me what will be required for me to do a LSA fixed wing NPL if I already have a NPL Gyro license?

Re: WANTED :ROTAX 914 ENGINE

Hi LDV, I might have a low hour 914 with slipper clutch (160hrs) on the market in the near future. I also comes with a Sycamore Serial # 001 attached, but that I will be selling separately as parts as follows: 1 x Wagtail/ Advanced Kinetics Rotor head assembly and 33ft Al Rotors. 1 x Wagtail Hydraul...

Re: What a/c would you choose?

It seems power and lifting capacity are important to these heavy okes... Nobody followed through on the Trojan Gyro from Wagtail! Yes, Subaru powered and 100% local manufacture too - just like the RAF. Do fixed wing LSA pilots really like flying in strong winds? No they don't! If you have strong win...

Re: Pitch trim sorted at last

Fortunately a Sycamore is a simple beast and most of their problems have logical solutions. The process of replacing the rotor hub when doing the hydraulic pre-rotator mod includes moving the control arms from the front of the hub yolk to the rear when the hub is replaced. This inverts the original ...

Re: Pitch trim wanted for a gyro

And a few more points that should be noted by our wise Forum... I didn't say the mods were done by the AMO - I clearly said quote "I fitted a new rotor head with hydraulic pre-rotator" I also said that the "The mod is approved I am assured, and it has been done by a reputable AMO with extensive Syca...

Re: Pitch trim wanted for a gyro

Thanks Weedy,
I know about these adjustable trim springs. Mine are adjusted almost fully up which gives assistance for backward movement on the stick. Does a small amount of adjustment on these springs make much difference?

Re: Pitch trim wanted for a gyro

It's difficult to answer some of the questions without apportioning blame for the change in flight characteristics but I'll do my best... The decision to add a few kilo's to my already heavy and old Sycamore was out of concern about reliability. The Gyro will be flown in future in one of the most re...

Pitch trim wanted for a gyro

I urgently need an electro-pneumatic pitch trim actuator for my recently modified Sycamore. I fitted a new rotor head with a hydraulic pre-rotator and now have a problem with the amount of effort to hold the stick back. Powers that be say I need to fit a trim to relax the pressure on the stick and t...
