Re: Fire extinguishers

Hi Justin,

Just been reading that Avcom post, if I'm reading it correctly they are selling 1 kg Halon extinguishers for R240-250 each  . If thats so count me in for 2. I need one for my Zodiac and one for the new Jabiru.

Many thanks,
T4Flyer.

Re: Raven + Jabiru 2200 or 3300?

Its not only in the way you build a VW that counts, but also the sum of its parts. It is much cheaper to build a type 1 as parts are readily available and reasonably cheap (don't by parts because there are cheap, because a lot are "performance parts" designed for the "hot them up" car guys and are o...

Re: Raven + Jabiru 2200 or 3300?

Hi Guys, This is how I see it: Jab 2200, should give about the same performance as my existing Type 4 VW 2200cc (not sure about the T4's HP, but seems to perform somewhat better than the Type1 versions) will save over 30 kgs Jab 3300, should give improved performance but with increased engine cost (...

Re: Raven + Jabiru 2200 or 3300?

Hi All, Spent most of the weekend on the net looking for information on any 601's flying with Jabiru 2200, found absolutely nothing... some pictures and FWF kits, but no performance data at all. Now I'm more than a little worried that I might spend all this lovely money on an engine (Jab 2200) that ...

Re: Ravin + Jabiru 2200 ?

Justin, Looks like that BB flies pretty well on the Jab 2200. I'm a little surprised that you say it doesn't work well with the 601 HDS, I would have thought that with the higher speed anticipated with the HDS it would have worked better. As Carl said, a Raven with a Rotax 582 works well at the coas...

Re: Ravin + Jabiru 2200 ?

Hi Gunter, I don't know or want to know the amount I have spent on the engine and parts, but I could work it out if I had to as I kept most of the receipts. Anyway there are some of the engine specs, all I need to do now is assemble. (or blow all my savings and fit a Jab 2200cc) • VW 2.0L block, Bor...

Re: Ravin + Jabiru 2200 ?

I think I read on this forum that someone had fitted a Jabiru 2200cc engine to a Bushbaby, Does anyone know the details of the owner, I would love to know how the BB flies with a Jab 2200, it might help settle my mind (and open my wallet!)

Cheers, T4Flyer.

Re: Ravin + Jabiru 2200 ?

Hi Justin, I was a little concerned about the C of G with the lighter engine but checking out the FWF kit for the Jab 2200 I see they use the standard Jab 3300cc cowl and push the shorter 2200cc engine to the front of the cowl on an extended mount. Also with the VW Type 4 engine (with starter) the e...

Raven + Jabiru 2200 or 3300?

Hi all, I own an early Carl Babst, Raven (Great little plane, many hours of fun and many more to come I hope) I pulled it out of the air some time ago to rebuild the engine (Type 4 VW) I have collected all the parts and I am just about ready to start to put it all together. However, I have often con...

Re: Sportsplane Rating.............. planes.

Morph, Have you ever notice how, with time, simple thing have a tendency to become not so simple  A good few years ago when renewing my ATF the CAA checked my file and told me they don't have a owners handbook on file. I didn't have one either  so I made a copy of a friends Zodiac 601 own...

Re: Sportsplane Rating.............. planes.

Stephan, I'm embarrassed to admit you are correct. To be absolutely honest my Zodiac 601, with its heavy type 4 VW motor was never really a microlight. Nevertheless, the previous owner registered it as a microlight and that's what I have flown it as (maybe - sometimes a little over the 450kgs ...
