It does make far more sense for membership to be valid for 12 months from when one takes it out. Surely this would also be helpful in spreading the workload for renewals over 12 months rather than one?

Well, I'm somewhere around 30 hours - I've lost count! - and was supposed to go solo on Monday, but the weather didn't play along.
