Re: Gyro Hard Landing - Morningstar

Hi Len. Long time no see! I skimmed through the posts on this quickly, so forgive me if this has been covered or is a no brainer, but having myself also endured a hard landing some years ago,you would obviously want to look at potential stressing of the rotor blades. In my case the blade tips never ...

Re: XWind Dragon

Hi Francois. Phew!!! Glad all is well though. Although I've been out of gyro flying for some time now, from my limited experience I'm inclined to think that we can become quite anal about avoiding crabbing in flight, probably because it looks awkward and messy, and can give you a cricked neck if you...

Re: RAF Flight Behaviour

Holy crap! It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. Having honourably (I think :) ) discharged my self from the gyro flying fraternity some 3 years ago, I paid a visit to the site only to find that the HS debate rages on. In fact, I could swear that the input of some was a 'cut ...

Re: The issue of horisontal stabilisers or not - again.

I once tried fitting a stab myself, but wasn't happy with the results - see pic below. I was also lucky to hit 75mph in the cruise. It was subsequently unceremoniously removed, and I therefore speak with the utmost authority when I say that mixing a HS + RAF = mixing oil + H2O. It just doesn't go ch...

Re: Orange River Odyssey

Why do these trips when authors like this can give you virtual reality! Just kidding, nothing can replace doing it - this is brilliantly and incisively written and deserves to find its way unabridged into an aviation glossy magazine. Well done! (^^)

Re: Dragon: 7 ; Gyro: 0

Having been out of gyro circulation for a while, this was all news to me. With gyro comrades like the (non-deleted) contributors to this thread and this forum, how can you go wrong? (^^). As perverse as this may sound, the flip side of this coin is that events like this, as unfortunate as they are, ...

Re: WELL DONE GARMIN!!

Hi Jeremy. Don't worry, you're not under suspicion  It seems that the unit has changed hands perhaps even a few times in the last couple of weeks. The last custodian of the unit but one claimed to have bought it from someone in Johannesburg  . The plot thickens, but frankly I don't even ...

Re: WELL DONE GARMIN!!

Who would have believed - a happy ending after all.... The wheel has gone full circle. Wow! Anyone who has followed this saga will be aware that an affirmative shopper relieved me of my 296 and some peripherals about 14 months ago, and that up until about 4 weeks ago I had written off my considerabl...

Maybe its you who should be doing the writing and me the flying! Well written Mark (^^) , and many thanks again for delivering her for me. Her new owner will be inheriting a gem in my humble opinion.

PS Still waiting for your call...
