Re: RAF 2000 hub bar bolt torque over time

Re: ZU-DBV, ZU-RHO Threads? Unread postby John Boucher » Thu May 11, 2017 4:13 pm I see there is some condescending "mud" being thrown at the MODS... Firstly: This forum has always been a wealth of information and we intend keeping it that way. However, when posters openly challenge or attempt to m...

Re: True?

If I read the accident report correctly, in summary the owner had a new (non-approved) rotor-head machined and then assembled & installed it on the gyro himself. The accident investigation identified a number of manufacturing & assembly flaws, the major fault being that the bearing sleeve was instal...

Re: wanted: Rotax912 Radiator

David if you have no luck in finding one, I'd suggest you contact Cape Heat exchange in Paarl. http://www.che.co.za/ They are specialist radiator manufacturer and I've seen some very nice examples of their work on a couple of home-build aeries. They also did a repair job on my 914's leaking radiator...

Re: sport copter rotorblades

Kolibri, This is not the rotarycraft forum, and we really don't need too much of what goes on there regurgitated here ad nauseum. You've posted barely a handful of (mainly duplicated) posts on this board and I honestly can't decide whether you're here to discuss in a constructive manner or simply lo...

Re: Gyro Roll tendency

Hi Dave Note that my engine (582) indeed turns clockwose, opposite to the 912, so torque is expected to the opposite direction. It is most noticeable on high rpms. If i throttle down all the way, then the roll tendency dissapears completely. This is regardsless of speed, wheather i fly at 50mph or ...

Hate to remind you, Gyros are not designed for long distance flying  ...although many forum members will argue vhpy Listen here Mr Cabbage Patch vhpy vhpy vhpy ol Senior Cierva most certainly envisaged his Autogyro to be utlised in any way a fixed wing would. In 1928 he flew his gyro across t...

Re: Gyro Roll tendency

I'm going to start by suggesting that you contact Butch (SA MAgni agent) or anyone else familiar with the M18 to find out if this roll tendency at higher power settings is normal or not? I would suspect it isn't but I don't have any experience on the M18 and it is a much lighter and smaller Magni. S...

Re: Xenon RST new pics 21 July

Now I don't know the one end of a lathe from the other - but when looking at that Xenon tether bolt my non-engineering mind does wonder why they cut the thread diameter down so much from the bolt diameter? That "neck" is a helluva lot thinner than the rest of the bolt and must compromise its strengt...

Re: Xenon RST new pics 21 July

Greg, looking at the heli panels, there's just one thing that concerns me with the panel you have made up - and that is the very pronounced shroud / hood. In an accident those edges (even with rubber stripping) have the potential to become guillotine blades should it be impacted by anyone in an acci...

Re: LED interferance

Had the same problem after fitting LED strobes to my gyro several years ago. Tried ferrites without success - replacing the wiring to the strobes with thicker gauge wiring did the trick.
