World Heritage Fine
I read in the Beeld today that a Microlight pilot has been fined R12000 or 12 month in jail for touching down on the beach in Sodwana. I was also not aware that the height restriction is 4100 feet over this area.

Re: An idea for a Single seat Gyro
Good post. Right price! Gyro flying at microlight price. Climbing at 1800 f/min for the 582. Very short take off. Sorry for Magni and Ella but you have serious competition now. Us normal plebs can now get back in the sky

Rhino Park
I had the privelage to go and fly my friend Francois's Sycamore at Rhino on Saturday. Having spent too much time and too much money on getting the plane to his too high standards he was looking for an independant opinion on the plane. Me, I just wanted to fly and flying I did. Afterwords I realised ...

Re: AmericanAutogyro
Hi Coen I am referrring to these photos as per the following web address. http://www.americanautogyro.com/Photo%20Gallery.htm According to this there are definitely RAF 2000's with the conversion as per the photos and one of them appear to be in South Africa. Going onto the website this is a convers...

Re: AmericanAutogyro
I do not know what is meant by painful discussion as I was not part of it. I only commented on the horizontal stabiliser(not vertical) and just wanted to know if there are any flying in south Africa and what difference if any it had on the flying characteristics of the plane. Looking at the photos I...

AmericanAutogyro
I notice that the Sparrowhawk 3 on the AmericanAutogyro website and the RAF look like similar or the same aircraft. What is however interesting to me is the photos in the photo gallery of the conversion done on the RAF to fit a vertical stabiliser. Looks quite nice. Has this been done to any Raf's f...

Re: Flying vs Driving
What you are raising is exactly my point. How many pilots do you know that has had a couple of close misses and were lucky to have escaped without actually having an accident. How many student pilots do you know that have failed to qualify because the instructor felt that they are not suited for fly...

Flying vs Driving
Was just wandering if anyone has ever done the following analysis. Is there any relationship between persons having had one or more than one car accident and having had a flying accident. You get these car drivers that always have an accident that is never their mistake. I was just wondering if it i...

Re: Rotortec new Gyro from Germany
This looks nice. Only problem is I weigh 115 kg of solid mucle. With a full tank I will be exceeding the maximum weight. So only for small guys and girls.

Re: 33 FOOT ROTOR
Very much on par to my previous Magni. So are saying that the long rotors have not slowed down the machine ? If that is the case, it is quite interesting to know that longer rotors might give more drag, but affect somehow the overall performance with better lift. Things seem to balance. Then the be...

Re: 33 FOOT ROTOR
Michiel Stop being an asshole on this forum. Change your questions attitude and the guys will take you seriously - or bugger off. You're changing Gyro talk in a mini Avcom. There is no reference to RAF - it is the type of rotor on the older Sycamores being discussed. Hi Jacques. Still inexpe...

Re: 33 FOOT ROTOR
Jacaster, when you did your test flight with these big rotors, did this affect the cruising speed ? I am not worried about few miles, but to your feeling, and for knowledge, what did you find ? No Tango. The only thing I could compare with is from talking to other pilots with different makes and mo...

33 FOOT ROTOR
I flew the Sycamore with the 33 foot Australian alluminium rotor. The plane was an absolute pleasure to fly, very stable in the air. Set the trim at the speed you want and enjoy the flight. On Friday I flew another Sycamore with the RAF rotor. I was schocked by the instability of the plane and this ...

Re: Gyro vs Trike
I agree with the statement that it would appear to be very expensive, given the fact that the rotor blades alone are about R30 000 which is less than what a wing would cost on the trike. This makes it even more expensive if compared to a GT 450 for example. Looking at the control systems on a gyro t...
