Re: Pietenpol Aircamper

Yep, you got it right, the diesel macs refer to it as freezing, but it does not turn to ice. It turns to gell, and clogs up the fuel line and filter. Did not know about the wax. You could go the route of heating and additives, but I would feel safer with JetA1. Personal choice I suppose, would just ...

Re: Pietenpol Aircamper

Does it freeze at such a high temp? I don't think so, never had a problem in my car, even at -7.5C the other morning it started on first turn. Diesel is an oil after all so freezing should not be a problem. Jet A1 would be cheaper if you could source it easily. Fly safe, Rudi[/quote] If the car slee...

Re: Pietenpol Aircamper

Hi Oldtimer Do you have any figures on the 2CT's performance in the Piet ? I have for a long time believed that diesel is the way to go for airplanes, in fact it was used in WWII planes, don't know why it was discontinued. I have used a 2CT in an old Isuzu bakkie and was not realy impressed. It only...

Forgive me if I sound incredibly stupid,

but can you fly a Microlight on a PPl, with a type conversion done,

or do you need to do an MPL as well ?

Instrument rating

Is it possible to get instrument rating on fixed wing microlight ?

The reason I am asking this question is that I am going to work away

from home and am concidering to buy a fixed wing and then

fly in and out, but then we know the weather will probably

not co-operate 90% of the time.

Have some one with a zulu accent call him and arrange a meeting at some secluded spot to discuss the settlement . Alternatively, put a big sticker on a brieftcase wich reads "bad debt collector", take a flasc of coffe and some samies, and camp in his reception area, be sure to place the briefcase in...

Hi Skid I would say the easiest way would be to use a blow through carburetor, wich requires positive pressure from a high pressure pump. Delorto comes to mind. The old vw variant used a single injector system, it was commonly known as a sp feul injection carburetor, don't know if they still make th...

I've been there, done that

If only I could post a picture,

I have a couple of my own.

BTW, these photos was taken in Khotagudham

I recognised srisai computors in the background,

I bought a 2G memory stick from them for a very good price.

At the time, the biggest one available in SA was 1G.

Coenie Otto has fitted a 1.72:1 reduction drive to the 2l diesel engine with a 72" prop pithced at 48". Interesting stuff. By the way, the engine is a gray import turbo diesel which only cost him R4000.00! Do you have any technical details on this ? It would make for some very interesting reading, ...

This does look like a very simple build project,

and if it is true that only 1/100 is ever completed,

then there should be a vast number of half built projects

lying around somewhere.

Now........if one could secure one of these for a song...........
